We've all sort of fallen in love with Rachel McAdams. I can't deny that her down to earth, gentle peformance in Wedding Crashers didn't have something to do with it. In a would-be raunch comedy, she serves as the ever so forced heart at the center. While Wilson and Vaughn provide the brilliant, off the cuff banter, providing most of the big laughs, this girl...this girl makes you feel that you have a chance. Even though you know you don't. Thinking back, I can't really remember any big laughs here, and Will's cameo is fucking lame. But I DO remember laughing quite a bit. It certainly hits all the right notes for a romantic comedy, I guess. One that knows how to be R rated. Then, in the the last thirty minutes it mostly goes to sappy garbage. Perhaps if they utilized this lovely lady even better, they could have struck a more consistent tone so as to not give us a case of the sugar shits in the big climax o' musical montage.
A good time though.
