Into the Woods:

Much to my shame this is the first Sleater-Kinney album I have ever heard. In total, I have heard maybe 2 tracks before this point. So, maybe I am not the best judge for the album. In any case, I love it.

I find it difficult at times, which is probably something most fans don't have to deal with at this point. Everything about their sound is just a little OFF. And I mean that in the best way possible. The lead singer (I can't remember her name right now) has such an odd fucking delvery that really had to grow on me...but now I adore it. LAAAAAAAND HO! has to be one of the best vocal portions of the year.

The music reminds me a lot of Fugazi and Mission of Burma for some reason. I don't think they are influenced by those bands or anything, since I believe they all came up at (more or less) the same time, but I couldn't help but be reminded of them since they are two of my favorite bands.

This is just such a brilliantly realized work from start to finish. Some of the lyrical content kind of threw me off at times. Couldn't quite tell if it was artistic posturing, tongue-in-cheek or just plain bad. However, as the album goes on I found that they really fit within the puzzle quite nicely.

So, Like I said, there are portions that I had to warm up to but this is now my number two or three album of the year. I may not be able to compare it to the other albums, but it is, quite arguably, a masterpiece.
