Everyone seems to hate the new Flaming Lips album. I don't know. I'm not really an expert on their discography. Basically, I own and love The Soft Bulletin...but that's all. At face value At War with The Mystics does seem a bit spotty, but I find it to be a remarkable grower. It's sort of a trojan horse of versatitlity. Its oddities are nuanced to perfection, and I find the questionable pacing of the LP rather intriguing. That's what I find the album...intriguing. Perhaps it's because I am a relatively new fan. However, I really think people might be letting their expectations get in the way on this one. Oh, well. Not the first time I've had bad taste.
